PORTOROŽ, Slovenia: Fotona, developer and manufacturer of laser systems for medical applications, is satisfied with the outcome of its International Fotona Weekend. Hosted recently at St Bernardin Adriatic Resort and Convention Centre in Portorož on the Slovenian coast, the event attracted over 150 partners from the company’s global network of distributors and key opinion leaders in laser medicine—more than ever before.

Participants of the four-day programme received in-depth information on new and existing applications of Fotona laser systems. Along with dental, aesthetic and surgical procedures, this year’s focus was on new developments in Fotona’s gynaecology programme.

“Participants enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about new treatments and technological innovations and experienced hands-on demonstrations of new handpieces and new solutions developed by Fotona during the past year,” the company stated.

On the second day of the event, the annual Laser and Health Academy Symposium, organised by the academy and the EU regional Competency Center for Biomedical Engineering, brought together 80 clinical experts from around the world to present and discuss the latest medical laser news and developments. The Laser and Health Academy is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of research, education and publishing in the field of laser medicine. The EU regional Competency Center for Biomedical Engineering aims to establish Slovenia on the global map as an incubator of highly innovative companies that build the most interesting biomedical devices in the world.

Visitors of International Fotona Weekend also enjoyed a lively social programme. They competed in a Fotona sailing regatta, went on a boat cruise around the Slovenian coast, and had the opportunity to catch up with their friends and colleagues at the traditional Fotona dinner and party.
