VÄSTRA FRÖLUNDA, Sweden: Artimplant, Swedish manufacturer of degradable implants for oral applications, has taken over the sales of its own products on the Nordic market. Its former distributor, Nordic Medical Supply (NMS), has filed for bankruptcy.

Artimplant continues to strengthen its market position,” the company stated in a press release. According to Artimplant, taking over the sales is part of its effort to increase its presence in markets in which Artimplant’s products are marketed and distributed.

Artimplant is a biomaterials company focused on solutions to problems in orthopaedic and oral surgery. All its products are made from Artelon, a degradable biomaterial that serves as a scaffold for tissue ingrowth and provides temporary support for healing tissue. According to the manufacturer, its products meet unmet clinical needs and are marketed in a growing number of therapy areas. Besides producing implants for oral applications, Artimplant manufactures implants for the treatment of osteoarthritis in hands and feet, for shoulder and other soft tissue injuries, as well as veterinary applications.
