Dairy products during pregnancy may prevent childhood caries

OSAKA, Japan: Researchers have found that a high intake of dairy products during pregnancy is associated with a lower risk of dental caries in children. For the first time, they examined the primary teeth of more than 300 children in relation to their mothers’ nutrition habits during pregnancy.

Every four hours an infant is treated for mouth injury

COLUMBUS, Ohio, USA: Researchers have found that children who are learning to walk are at the highest risk of injury from baby bottles, sippy cups and pacifiers. For the first time, they analyzed nationwide statistical data from the last 20 years and found that, on average, 2,270 injuries related to these products are treated in U.S. emergency rooms every year.

BARCELONA, Spain/AARHUS, Denmark: Throat cancer patients who are human papillomavirus (HPV) positive and light or non-smokers respond well to treatment using radiotherapy alone, without the addition of chemotherapy with its consequent toxic side-effects. The new findings were presented last week at the 31st conference of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology in Barcelona.

TOKYO, Japan: The GC Corporation is reported to be among the winning bidders for the Japanese pharmaceutical company Showa Yakuhin Kako.
