MADRID, Spain: Despite the heavy showers that swept over the Spanish capital on Monday, partners and friends of the FDI met at the InterContinental hotel in the heart of Madrid to celebrate the traditional Japan Night. The event, which is organised in partnership with the Japan Dental Association and manufacturers Yoshida, GC, Morita and Shofu, was the first opportunity for officials and attendees to meet and mingle during the upcoming four congress days.

In his welcoming speech, Dr Kenro Hori, President of the Japan Dental Association, took the opportunity to offer his condolences on the lives lost during the terrorist attacks in Barcelona and then thanked the FDI for its ongoing commitment to the event. Outgoing FDI President Dr Patrick Hescot also expressed his appreciation and highlighted the projects his organisation is conducting with the companies present, such as the Oral Health for an Ageing Population Partnership, which is supported by GC. “I am glad that this night has become such a long-standing tradition for our congress,” he said.

With a “Kanpai!”, everybody finally toasted one other and enjoyed the rest of the evening.
