VIENNA, Austria: Strategies and criteria for the successful maintenance of stable peri-implant hard and soft tissue over time are the focus of the platinum sponsor workshops arranged by DENTSPLY Friadent during Europerio 7. The two workshops, presented by internationally renowned experts in research and practice Prof. Georgios Romanos (USA), Prof. Jörg Meyle (Germany), and Prof. Anastasia Kelekis-Cholakis (Canada) offer first-hand guidelines and strategies for treating inflammatory tissue reactions successfully and thus for maintaining long-term healthy tissue conditions.
Based on knowledge and experience of the high demands placed on dental restorations, DENTSPLY Friadent has laid the emphasis of the workshop programme on a comprehensive portfolio that offers solutions from root to crown, with the speakers showing how these concepts can be applied in the dental practice and defining the factors that need to be considered to ensure long-term stable results. At the first workshop on Wednesday, Prof. Romanos presented strategies and protocols for the treatment of peri-implantitis to about 500 attendees. He illustrated this with images of previous clinical cases, from treatment planning to long-term tissue conditions. The presentation was followed by an opportunity for the professional exchange of experiences.
In the second workshop held today, Prof. Meyle and Prof. Kelekis-Cholakis, two dedicated experts in clinical research and treatment strategies for long-term implant success even in periodontally compromised patients, offered insight into their treatment concepts to an interested auditorium of more than 650 guests. The workshop, moderated by Prof. Martin Lorenzoni from Austria, concluded with an interesting discussion.
At the DENTSPLY Friadent booth, attendees can learn what challenges need to be overcome by the dental practice in treating implant patients and how to achieve long-term tissue health and stability. The company’s most recent innovations can also be viewed at the booth. For example, visitors can learn more about the new angled abutments for restoration using tilted ANKYLOS and XiVE implants. Part of the SmartFix Concept, these abutments offer the immediate restoration of edentulous patients with screw-retained bridges or bars in the maxilla and mandible. Especially in situations in which the optimal use of existing bone is critical and grafting procedures need to be avoided, the SmartFix Concept can be of considerable support, the company said.
The 25th anniversary of the ANKYLOS implant system is indicative of its clinical success and good long-term results. The anniversary will be celebrated with a Happy Hour this afternoon.
Launched in 1987, the ANKYLOS implant and its tapered connection are designed for initial and long-term tissue stability. Proven successful by a large number of studies in the last 25 years, the ANKYLOS Tissue Care Concept is today more current than ever thanks to the new possibilities offered by CAD/CAM prosthetics.
