Dr Edward McLaren is a prosthodontist and master dental ceramist. He is a retired professor from both the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Dentistry and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry.
At UCLA, Dr McLaren founded and served as the first director of the Postgraduate Esthetic Dentistry programme and the UCLA Center for Esthetic Dentistry, a full-time didactic and clinical programme for graduate dentists. He also established and directed the UCLA/LACC Master Dental Ceramist programme—a full-time course for dental technicians offering extensive experience with the latest esthetic restorative systems.
At UAB, Dr McLaren founded and directed several advanced programmes, including the Advanced Dental Esthetics and Restorative and Biomaterials Programme, a three-year Advanced Ceramics and Digital Technology for Technicians programme, and a one-year Esthetic and Restorative Fellowship.
Dr McLaren is currently CEO of ArtOral America, a private teaching institute based in Park City, Utah. He also maintains a private practice limited to prosthodontics and esthetic dentistry, in which he creates all of his own ceramic restorations.
