COPENHAGEN, Denmark: Researchers from the University of Copenhagen have examined the benefits of enhanced oral health promotion combined with a closely supervised toothbrushing programme in schools in southern Thailand. The two-year study aimed to establish an effective model for the fight against the increasing burden of tooth decay among children in Asia.

GENEVA, Switzerland: As World Oral Health Day (WOHD) 2015 approaches, FDI World Dental Federation encourages people to make a healthy New Year’s resolution and reduce their use of tobacco—or give it up completely—as part of the 2015 World Oral Health Day’s ‘Smile for life’ campaign. The FDI also asks health professionals to participate in tobacco-prevention activities.

GENEVA, Switzerland: Last Wednesday, the FDI World Dental Federation launched the World Oral Health Day 2015 (WOHD) “Smile for life” campaign to remind people everywhere about the importance of looking after their teeth and gums. WOHD is celebrated throughout the world on 20 March each year with a wide range of awareness-raising activities organised by dentists, dental students, national dental associations and corporate partners.

GENEVA, Switzerland/LEIPZIG, Germany: In order to include the more than two million dental professionals worldwide in celebrating World Oral Health Day (WOHD 2015) next year, FDI World Dental Federation recently signed an agreement with its long-term media partner Dental Tribune International (DTI). Both organisations have joined forces to promote awareness of the importance of oral health on a global scale via DTI’s numerous print and online publications.

DAKAR, Senegal: The Italian Dental Industries Association (UNIDI) has announced that it recently entered into a partnership with the FDI World Dental Federation for the organisation of a joint dental event in Senegal. In November this year, the partners will be holding the first International Dental Exhibition Africa (IDEA), the only dental exhibition entirely dedicated to the African continent, alongside the FDI’s African congress.
