Prof. Jiro Abe is the pioneer of a denture fabrication technique that is gaining popularity in dental practices around the world. In a free Ivoclar Vivadent webinar on Saturday, 7 March, he will be detailing this technique and some valuable tips on how to apply it.
The technique employs Ivoclar’s BPS (biofunctional prosthetic system) to fabricate a tissue-supported mandibular complete denture that has more effective suction. In the webinar, he will outline the fabrication procedure.
Abe graduated from Tokyo Dental College in Japan in 1981. He developed his technique for improved suction for mandibular complete dentures in 1999 and has been disseminating it throughout the world since 2004, most recently via the books Mandibular Suction-Effective Denture and BPS: A Complete Guide (Quintessence, 2012) and Mandibular Suction-Effective Denture: “The Professional” (Quintessence, 2018). He has been a professor at the Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry in Japan since 2010 and at the Kanagawa Dental University since 2012. He is an international clinical BPS instructor for Ivoclar and conducts seminars on complete denture prostheses for GC and Morita. From 2006 to 2015, Abe was chairman of the Japan Denture Association (now the Japan Plate Denture Association), which he founded, and he has been a member of the international committee of the American Prosthodontic Society since 2015.
The 1-hour webinar, titled “Suction-effective mandibular complete denture combined with biofunctional prosthetic system”, will be broadcast live on Saturday, 7 March, at 12 p.m. CET. Attendance is free of charge after easy registration on the website. Participants will be able to ask questions via a chat window and have the opportunity to earn a continuing education credit by completing a multiple-choice questionnaire on the topic.
Dental professionals who are interested in attending the course may register online here.
