GENEVA, Switzerland: Designed to spread a range of positive messages, including good oral hygiene habits and the importance of regular dental check-ups to help protect the mouth and body, World Oral Health Day (WOHD) is the largest oral health campaign globally. To actively promote the initiative for the 2018 campaign and onwards, Planmeca is teaming up with the FDI World Dental Federation.

“World Oral Health Day is an opportunity to empower people to take charge of their oral health at all ages, and together with the support of our partners, we can do more. I’m delighted to welcome Planmeca Oy to our group of global supporters of the campaign and would like to congratulate them for demonstrating their commitment to global oral health awareness. I look forward to our collaboration,” said FDI President Dr Kathryn Kell.

The FDI has launched a three-year campaign for WOHD titled “Say ahh”, with the sub-theme for 2018 “Think mouth, think health”. Aimed at highlighting the connection between oral health and general health, one of the initiative’s main objectives is to educate people so they better understand how crucial oral health is for maintaining a good quality of life.

Heikki Kyöstilä, President and founder of Planmeca, said: “We are very pleased to join forces with the FDI to promote the World Oral Health Day campaign. We see this as an opportunity to encourage people to commit to their oral health, and underline the positive impact oral health has on overall health. We are proud to support this initiative as well-being and best possible care are the very values Planmeca is built on.”

In addition to Planmeca joining the FDI and the WOHD campaign, the long-running partnership between the FDI and Dental Tribune International (DTI) continues. Official FDI media partner since 2005, DTI began supporting the WOHD campaign in 2015 and recently confirmed its commitment to 2018 and beyond. DTI will be using its many avenues of dissemination to ensure that the campaign messages are spread far and wide.
