BioGaia ProDentis

The world’s first probiotic lozenge is now available. Specifically formulated to help restore the natural bacterial balance of the mouth and contribute to optimal oral health, ProDentis is a unique oral probiotic that acts on the microflora of the mouth to reduce bacterial plaque build-up, which can lead to periodontal disease.

The oral cavity is inhabited by the most genetically diverse microbial population in the body—more than 700 microbes. When these become out of balance, oral diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis can develop.

The balance can be re-established with ProDentis, a unique advanced oral health probiotic containing the innovative and patented active ingredient Lactobacillus reuteri Prodentis, the effectiveness and safety of which has been documented in clinical studies in both adults and children.

Taking ProDentis is simple, pleasant and practical: one mint lozenge is taken daily after brushing and flossing the teeth; the lozenge should be allowed to slowly dissolve for 10 minutes for the active ingredients to disperse. ProDentis comes in hygienic blister packs.

The food supplement is recommended for patients suffering from bleeding or sensitive gingivae, or when recommended by the dentist or hygienist. The lozenge is also specifically recommended for patients in immune-challenging conditions, for instance during pregnancy or stressful times.

Most probiotics are Lactobacilli, which are natural constituents of human microflora from birth. L. reuteri Prodentis is a clinically documented and patented natural probiotic of human origin and one of very few species of probiotics that is uniquely adapted to reside in the gastrointestinal tract and oral cavity of human beings. It is also currently the only lactobacillus to produce reuterin, which is a beneficial, natural antimicrobial agent.

Each ProDentis mint lozenge contains at least 200 million active L. reuteri Prodentis bacteria at the time of manufacture to actively assist in the restoration of the mouth’s microflora. Studies have shown that regular consumption of a daily probiotic can help to increase the number of beneficial bacteria.
