COPENHAGEN, Denmark: The board of directors at 3Shape has named Jacob Vishof Paulsen as the company’s new CEO. Paulsen succeeds Jakob Just-Bomholt, who stepped down after a successful five-year tenure. Paulsen’s appointment marks the beginning of a new phase for 3Shape. As the new CEO, he will lead ambitious growth strategies focused on expanding commercial market reach, accelerating innovation and strengthening the company’s position as a global leader in digital dentistry.

Paulsen joins 3Shape from Danish bioscience company Chr. Hansen, where he served as executive vice president of the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa and North America business units. He previously worked at McKinsey and Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Jørgen Falkebo Jensen, chairman of the board of directors at 3Shape, commented in a press release: “We are pleased to welcome Jacob Vishof Paulsen as our new CEO. Jacob has a proven track record of delivering remarkable results in commercially complex industries and possesses unique leadership qualities that align with 3Shape’s values. Over a 20-year period, he has been an instrumental part of Chr. Hansen’s growth journey, helping to guide the company through private equity ownership, its initial public offering and—most recently—the creation of the world-leading bio-solutions company Novonesis. We are confident that Jacob has the right profile to unlock our strong potential and accelerate our growth alongside our dedicated employees.”

Paulsen commented: “I am honoured to join a company as strong in mission and strategy as 3Shape. With its unique digital and innovative products and business model, the company has established a solid market position worldwide, providing a strong foundation for unlocking its tremendous growth potential. I look forward to working with the entire team at 3Shape. Together we will deliver value for our customers and remain at the forefront of innovation in dentistry.”

Under Just-Bomholt’s leadership, 3Shape underwent significant development, strengthened its market position and global presence, and achieved greater profitability. Today, the company is recognised as an innovator in the field of digital dentistry and serves customers in more than 100 countries. Just-Bomholt commented: “I am proud of the development 3Shape has undergone during the past five years. Since 2020, we have consistently strengthened our market position in digital dentistry and consequently delivered strong financial results.”

On behalf of the board, Jensen thanked Just-Bomholt for his dedication and achievements. “He has played a key role in transitioning 3Shape from a founder-led company, solidifying its foundation, setting a strategic direction and thereby positioning the company for future success. We feel that now is the right time for a new leadership perspective,” Jensen said.
