MELBOURNE, Australia: In Australia, a lack of locally transmitted COVID-19 cases has meant that many elements of life have regained some semblance of normality. A case in point is the upcoming ADX Melbourne, the 2021 iteration of Australia’s largest dental exhibition, which will feature both a virtual component and a physical symposium for dental professionals who can make it to Melbourne in person.

Almost one year ago to the day, ADX20 was forced to wrap up a day earlier than anticipated owing to the then encroaching COVID-19 pandemic. First held in 2006, the trade show has established itself as the premier event for Australian dental professionals to inform themselves about the industry’s latest products and innovations. ADX Melbourne is scheduled to take place at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 6 to 8 May and already has more than 120 exhibitors and 500 delegates slated to attend, according to the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA), the convenor of ADX Melbourne.
“We expect these numbers to climb now that we’ve started to actively market ADX Melbourne,” Kym De Britt, ADIA CEO, told Dental Tribune International.
“Attendees will experience the latest innovations, technologies and techniques as well as network with other professionals,” De Britt added. “As part of this event, key professional bodies representing dentists and allied oral healthcare professionals will also provide a strong programme of seminars and social events. Importantly, this will be a COVID-19-safe event, and ADIA will be closely following any health directives.”
After the in-person event wraps up, the inaugural ADX Online will take place from 10 to 21 May, and a multitude of exhibitors will be available to live chat and videoconference with interested participants.
“This virtual experience is the perfect solution for those who can’t make ADX Melbourne in person,” De Britt said. “Perhaps attendees work from home or live in a remote location but still want to experience ADX and make new connections. They can now connect with suppliers from the comfort of their home or practice.”
