DUBAI, UAE: On 17 and 18 January, Dubai became a hub for international dentistry as dental professionals from the Middle East and beyond gathered for DS World Dubai. Held at Grand Hyatt Dubai under the theme “Experience the future of connected dentistry”, this flagship clinical education event of Dentsply Sirona combined scientific presentations, hands-on courses and an industry exhibition, offering insights into digital workflows, intelligent technologies and clinical expertise that support seamless processes from diagnosis to restoration.

DS World Dubai has grown considerably since it was first held in 2023. This year’s edition welcomed participants from more than 50 countries, highlighting the event’s expanding international reach and relevance.

Presentations by 18 internationally recognised speakers focused on evidence-based techniques and methods aimed at improving precision and predictability in daily practice. Across multiple sessions, trust emerged as a recurring theme—trust in clinicians’ skills and experience, in treatment approaches and in the tools used in dentistry.

The programme was curated to provide practical inspiration for everyday clinical work. The accompanying exhibition offered a detailed look at Dentsply Sirona’s latest innovations and connected solutions, reinforcing the event’s focus on integrated digital workflows across multiple clinical disciplines.

Customised and highly efficient digital workflows

A dedicated press conference brought together members of the international dental media for important information on current developments and future directions in connected dentistry. At the press conference, Dentsply Sirona introduced Reciproc Minima. The new file is an expansion of the Reciproc product series and has been developed specifically for narrow root canals and challenging canal anatomies. Featuring a reduced diameter and a shorter shaft, it is designed to improve access to root canals, particularly in the posterior region.

Endodontist Dr Marc Habib highlighted the role of digital tools in enhancing efficiency and predictability in endodontic workflows: “When you think of endodontics, digital dentistry may not be the first thing that comes to mind. But it can be really helpful—especially when it comes to imaging. With 3D radiographs, we can see more and avoid surprises during treatment. Digital tools also support guided endodontic workflows and post-endodontic restoration. We scan patients with Primescan, and they receive digitally manufactured restorations made from, for example, CEREC Cercon 4D, the new zirconia block from Dentsply Sirona.”

Speaking on digitalisation from an implantology perspective, UK-based implant specialist Dr Martin Wanendeya presented clinical cases demonstrating how digital technologies can improve both treatment predictability and the patient experience. According to Dr Wanendeya, future developments in implant dentistry will increasingly involve cloud-based planning, therapy and communication, with the aim of simplifying workflows and reducing chair time to enhance patient satisfaction.

Building confidence through education and training

The speakers consistently emphasised that, despite ongoing digitalisation, successful dentistry continues to rely on clinical expertise and hands-on skills. Education, training and structured workflows therefore remain essential components of long-term practice development.

Reflecting the continued importance of education and training, Rajender Kumar, general manager of Dentsply Sirona’s business in the Middle East and North Africa region, addressed the relevance of the learning formats offered at DS World for clinical excellence, stating: “Our offering at DS World always includes a variety of formats: demonstrations, lectures, presentations and panel discussions. The goal is always to transfer knowledge and skills that are relevant to practice. At DS World Dubai 2026, internationally renowned speakers such as Dr Carlos Sabrosa from Brazil and Dr Peet van der Vyver from South Africa will provide insights into digital workflows, restoration techniques, implants, orthodontics and endodontics. In addition, DS World offers networking and peer-to-peer learning. What counts is a training experience that supports both immediate improvements in everyday clinical practice and long-term growth, combining innovation, skills development and guidance on practice management.”

During his opening speech at DS World Dubai 2026, Kirill Levin, Dentsply Sirona’s group vice-president of the Eastern group regional commercial organisation and director of distribution and partnerships in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, also highlighted the growing importance of digital education formats. He emphasised online learning as a meaningful extension of in-person events, pointing to the Dentsply Sirona Academy campus. Established in close collaboration with Dental Tribune International, the platform offers numerous live and on-demand webinars throughout the year.

A global event series with regional focus

DS World began as the “Ultimate Dental Meeting” in September 2017 in Las Vegas in the US, marking the first major global educational event after the merger of DENTSPLY International and Sirona Dental Systems. Since then, regional DS World events have been launched worldwide, including in Asia, where the meeting was first held in Tokyo in Japan in 2024, and in the UK, where it débuted in Birmingham last year.

The next DS World event will take place in Bonn in Germany on 13 and 14 March and will mark the first to be held in the country. Further information is available at dentsplysirona.com.
