“Although a wide variety of post and core restoration technologies and materials have been introduced into the dental market, there is no consensus on the most appropriate treatment choice for such systems,” said Dr Deepak Mehta, a lecturer at Bangalore University in India.

“Prefabricated posts have good biomechanical and physical properties. However, they cannot be customised for optimal adaptation to the prepared post space. Using composite resins for core material may have a higher failure rate because of the weak bonding between the prefabricated post and composite core,” Mehta stated.

To overcome these issues when restoring a broken crown of an endodontically treated tooth, edelweiss dentistry developed a unique single-piece, high-strength customisable composite, the POST & CORE system, to make chairside treatment simple, easy and predictable.

Edelweiss Digital Smile System
Dr Marco Tudts, a specialist in aesthetic dentistry said: “The Digital Smile System software allows dentists and technicians to realise the digital planning of aesthetic and functional smile rehabilitation through simple and automatic tools. With just two clicks, the dentist is able to show the patient a preview of his or her envisioned lifelike smile. A 3-D printer transfers the digital preview to a resin model. A positioning guide can be fabricated to allow easy and predictable positioning of the veneers.”
