BEIJING, China: The 2017 World Dental Forum will be held on 30 and 31 October at the China World Trade Center in Beijing. The organiser, dental prosthesis provider Modern Dental Group, is expecting more than 800 dentists at the event, which will feature multiple lectures, panel-led discussions and events. Dental Tribune Online spoke with Edith Chan, Executive Director and Chief Marketing Officer of Modern Dental Group, to find out more about this year’s forum and what is in store.

The World Dental Forum will be held for the fourth time this year. What is the aim of the event?
This is Modern Dental Group’s most exciting event. The two-day forum consists of lectures and panel discussions by world-renowned speakers, with the aim of promoting academic sharing and the exchange of technical expertise among dental professionals. It is a great opportunity to network with dentists around the world to exchange ideas and most importantly to have fun. Our clients are always eager to attend this event.

You are the main organiser of the World Dental Forum. Why did you decide to host an event like this?
We believe in promoting academic sharing and providing our technical expertise to dental professionals. We believe our knowledge can benefit dentists and their patients and strengthen the dental community as a whole.

How many attendees do you expect, and is there a theme under which the two-day event is being held?
We are expecting more than 800 dentists to attend from around the world. We are very honoured to be hosting ten world-renowned speakers, all from different countries. This year, the lectures and panel discussions fall into three themes: the future of digital dentistry, modern implantology and aesthetic restorations. There will be nine lectures, three panel discussions and a mini-exhibition held in the foyer consisting of large, well-known dental suppliers showcasing their latest products and technologies.

Could you please list some highlights of the scientific programme?
All the lecture topics are worthwhile; however, some highlights would be “Modern dental—MIS Implants guided surgery system: Real time” by Drs Renaat Declerck and David Norré, “Digital smile design (DSD): The complete interdisciplinary digital workflow” by Dr Francis Coachman and “Paradigm shift in esthetic zone: Guided concept for a predictable result” by Dr Stefen Koubi.

In addition to the lectures, attendees can look forward to the social events. Could you tell us more?
The social programme plays a large part in this event and it is very important to us that all of the attendees not only take new dental knowledge back home, but also have fun. Throughout the event, we have arranged many cultural activities for attendees, such as sugar blowing, a kung fu tea ceremony, rainbow calligraphy, a Peking opera and dragon dancing. We are also hosting a gala dinner, at which all the dentists and their partners will be able to enjoy an exciting evening with Chinese acrobatic performances and a live jazz band for dancing throughout the night.

Accompanying partners are invited to attend the city tours we have organised that will visit attractions such as the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. A highlight for attendees will be the visit to the Modern Dental Laboratory in Shenzhen. It is the largest state-of-the-art laboratory in the world, with over 4,000 technicians; it is filled with the latest dental technology and is truly a great opportunity that attendees won’t want to miss.
