LAS VEGAS, US: From 15 to 17 September, the dental community gathered at the Dentsply Sirona World (DS World) event at Caesars Forum in Las Vegas for the chance to learn from key innovators in the field, enjoy product releases first-hand and participate in the massive networking event.

In addition to earning prized continuing education credits during robust seminars, thousands joined from around the world to personally experience Dentsply Sirona’s latest digital solutions featured in the main exhibition area as well as to enjoy once-in-a-lifetime entertainment from the legendary band Journey and comedy superstar David Spade.

DS World MC Dr Sameer Puri, who is vice president of education at continuing education provider CDOCS, described the benefits of attending: “It allows dental professionals to be the first to experience the latest systems and equipment, get hands-on with the most cutting-edge technology in the dental industry, and discover how to apply these learnings to grow their practice. Most importantly, it is a celebration of dentistry!”

That cutting-edge technology included Axeos, a versatile 2D/3D imaging solution that supports a number of treatments by providing a range of fields of views. Attendees also were able to try out the Axano treatment centre with its advanced dental chair that combines smart digital controls and modern design to offer an intuitive workflow.

DS Core, the company’s open cloud-based platform enabling the integration of devices and services through Google Cloud, was also available for clinicians to try, as was Primeprint Solution,  an excellent option for adding 3D printing to a dental practice easy. Dr Cord Staehler, chief technology officer at Dentsply Sirona, said: “Digital technology has transformed dentistry, enabling greater practice efficiency, collaboration with labs and specialists, single-visit treatments, highly accurate and reliable results, and improved patient outcomes.” Dr Staehler emphasised that participants at DS World 2022 were to be the first to experience the latest Dentsply Sirona innovations in person.

During the event, Dentsply Sirona also hosted its first sustainability breakout session. The discussion was held in partnership with Dr Steven Mulligan, founding member of the FDI World Dental Federation Sustainability in Dentistry Task Team, and Dr Rainer Seemann, vice president of global clinical research and scientific support at Dentsply Sirona.

Another first was the Women’s Speaker Dinner honouring female leaders across dentistry and at Dentsply Sirona. Participating guests included those from a speaker development programme for women in dentistry, First to 50, as well as winners of the 2021 Smart Integration Award, which honours women across dentistry.

“DS World is all about connections, connections to brilliant people, innovative ideas, and groundbreaking technology that together enable best practices and growth beyond industry standards,” shared Andrew Robinson, senior vice president and leader of the North America regional commercial organisation of and chief digital officer at Dentsply Sirona.
