Mr Campion, what can visitors expect from Dentsply Sirona at IDS 2025?
With so many experts, partners and colleagues exchanging ideas and exploring innovations that shape our industry, IDS is an inspiring place to be.

Our theme this year is connected dentistry. More than a motto, it represents a commitment to shaping the future of patient care with a connected ecosystem—an ecosystem that has DS Core at the heart of it. It’s been 40 years since digital dentistry began with CEREC, and we’re continuing to move digital dentistry forward by building this connected ecosystem.

At IDS 2025, we are launching new capabilities through DS Core, including our newest cloud-based diagnostic viewer1, available in DS Core standard and advanced subscriptions, which creates a new level of flexibility in diagnosing Dentsply Sirona radiographic data anywhere, from any device, and helps lower IT costs. Another enhancement is Smart View1,2, an AI-powered tool for 3D rendering of anatomical views, enhancing clinicians’ patient communication practices and supporting case acceptance, available in DS Core standard and advanced subscriptions.

The company also showed off new and powerful Primescan 2 features, such as integrated caries detection3, optimised smart compression, faster SureSmile aligner simulations and multi-use steel sleeves4—all just six months after its initial launch. As Primescan 2 is powered by DS Core, it enables instant updates for greater efficiency and performance.

In imaging, our premium 3D imaging solutions such as Orthophos SL and Axeos, now enhanced by DS Core and Primary Storage, help dentists expand their treatment options and elevate their patients’ experience with confidence and ease.

Making its IDS debut, the Axano Pure dental chair is distinguished by its integrated Endo package with presets for quick and easy treatment. In endodontics, our X-Smart Pro+ motor with its integrated apex locator is the perfect match to maximise the benefits of our endodontic workflows such as Reciproc Blue, WaveOne Gold or ProTaper Ultimate.

Additionally, our Astra Tech Implant EV, PrimeTaper EV Implant and OmniTaper EV Implant are on display. All three implants feature one connection for restorative clarity, and they are an excellent fit into seamless workflows for digital dentistry.

Recently, with Siemens Healthineers, we introduced the first dental-dedicated MRI (ddMRI) in Europe5. This exciting imaging technology expands diagnostic capabilities with radiation-free imaging and represents another complementary addition to Dentsply Sirona’s advanced imaging portfolio. Initially intended for universities and hospitals due to the space investment required for the equipment, we expect broader adoption as it scales. ddMRI data can also be shared via our cloud platform DS Core, which is the backbone of our connected dentistry offering, linking technologies, workflows and dental professionals like never before.

Is Dentsply Sirona aiming for DS Core to become the digital operating system of dentistry?
Yes, DS Core is our digital ecosystem connecting dental practices, labs and patients. DS Core serves as the backbone of connected dentistry, integrating imaging, diagnostics, treatment planning and collaboration into seamless, cloud-powered workflows. By eliminating inefficiencies and centralising patient data, DS Core empowers dental professionals to enhance productivity, improve patient communication and expand their service offerings with ease. Whether streamlining everyday workflows or enabling new treatment possibilities, DS Core connects practices, partners and technology to drive the future of digital dentistry.

DS Core also enhances efficiency, clinical outcomes and patient involvement, ultimately supporting higher treatment acceptance. Over 50,000 devices globally are already connected to DS Core, and over 100,000 orders are processed monthly via DS Core.

Has suspending Byte direct-to-consumer aligners reshaped your approach to aligner therapy?
When we acquired Byte, we gained aligner technology and direct-to-consumer capabilities. Although we’ve discontinued the product, we’ve repurposed these capabilities to drive demand for our SureSmile Aligners, enhance patient education and improve the software interface between dentists and patients. We also plan to leverage this capability further to promote chairside dentistry.

In February, you launched MIS LYNX implants in the US. How has the response to this all-in-one premium dental implant been so far, and are further market launches planned in 2025?
It’s too early to assess adoption fully, but MIS LYNX demonstrates our ongoing commitment to implant innovation. The new MIS LYNX implant is a versatile and reliable choice for a wide range of clinical applications. This all-in-one solution combines a thoughtful design with cost-effectiveness, offering excellent value to clinicians and patients alike.

To address previous challenges, we’ve re-engaged the implantology community through clinical education and plan significant digital transformations with DS Core integration. Over the next few years, we intend to put all our implant offerings—premium and value—on DS Core, streamlining major dental workflows.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, equipment and instruments sales improved, and organic growth was regained in Europe. Does this indicate better conditions for dental clinics?
The macroeconomic environment was challenging throughout 2024. While patient traffic remained stable across most of our major markets, equipment pressures persisted, and interest rates remained high. We were encouraged to see improvement in Europe in the second half of 2024, notably in Germany, which recorded its strongest quarter in almost two years in the fourth quarter. Our relaunch of the Orthophos SL imaging line also propelled second-half growth in imaging. While these performance improvements are positive, we remain cautious about the global macroeconomic environment, particularly for equipment.

Dentsply Sirona is now in the second phase of its transformation strategy. Was adding Dan Scavilla and Mike Barber to the board recently part of your ongoing transformation?
Absolutely. Mike and Dan are two proven leaders with skillsets that are additive to the board. We achieved meaningful progress on our transformation journey by completing key initiatives and milestones in 2024, and our plans and momentum continue into 2025 to further shape the organisation, drive efficiencies and enable investment. Our formula for growth is anchored in innovation, clinical education, sales execution and customer experience. We deliver best-in-class innovation and clinical education, and as we move forward, we’re sharpening our focus on elevating sales execution and enhancing the customer experience. Paired with a scalable, lean cost structure, this strategy will help us to unlock our full potential.
