TOKYO, Japan: Kuraray Noritake Dental has announced the launch of KATANA AVENCIA Block 2, a second-generation performance composite block designed to support efficient, high-quality single-unit restorations in chairside CAD/CAM workflows.

Developed for inlays, onlays, veneers and crowns, KATANA AVENCIA Block 2 is available in two versions. The multilayered version is intended for crowns and offers seamless colour gradation for a natural appearance. The high-translucency version is designed for partial restorations such as inlays and onlays. Both feature a high filler loading of ultra-fine particles intended to support reliable mechanical performance and consistent aesthetics.

The material combines strength with optical integration. Its proprietary manufacturing process enables uniform resin impregnation, high filler density and smooth surfaces, contributing to reliable restorations and long-term wear resistance. The material can also be polished quickly to a high-gloss finish, helping to reduce chair time without compromising aesthetics.

KATANA AVENCIA Block 2 is intended to support straightforward clinical workflows. It can be processed with common CAD/CAM systems using either wet or dry milling and requires no firing. Bonding protocols are compatible with both self-adhesive and conventional resin cement approaches, offering flexibility according to clinical preference.

As part of Kuraray Noritake Dental’s Universal Excellence portfolio, the material is designed for use with established restorative solutions such as PANAVIA SA Cement Universal, PANAVIA V5 and CLEARFIL Universal Bond Quick 2, supporting predictable outcomes across a wide range of clinical indications. Restorations made from KATANA AVENCIA Block 2 can also be modified and repaired with composite materials, supporting long-term maintenance. Overall, KATANA AVENCIA Block 2 offers clinicians a time-efficient solution that supports both functional reliability and natural aesthetics in everyday restorative dentistry.
