TOKYO, Japan: Amid increasingly tight schedules, high patient expectations and growing operational and financial pressures, dental practitioners are expected to deliver highly aesthetic, minimally invasive treatments that last. This has created growing demand for restorative solutions that reduce complexity without compromising clinical performance. To address this need, Kuraray Noritake Dental has brought together the Universal Excellence portfolio. Centred on meaningful innovation, these products are designed to streamline clinical workflows while maintaining the predictable performance clinicians rely on every day.
The importance of simplifying restorative workflows is particularly evident in adhesive dentistry. Modern adhesive techniques have enabled more conservative tooth preparations and highly aesthetic restorations; however, they have also increased procedural complexity. Clinicians must select the appropriate bonding strategy, manage moisture and contamination, choose suitable surface treatments for different restorative materials, and manage shade selection and layering. Each additional step can introduce another source of variability.
The Universal Excellence portfolio addresses these challenges by offering materials that are compatible with multiple indications, techniques and substrates. Used individually, they simplify everyday procedures. Used together, they create efficient restorative workflows that reduce technique sensitivity, simplify inventory management and support consistent clinical outcomes.
Five universal solutions, one integrated portfolio
Kuraray’s universal product portfolio consists of five core products designed to complement one another:
- CLEARFIL Universal Bond Quick 2, an adhesive suitable for all etching techniques. It requires no waiting time and no rubbing. It enables a fast bonding procedure and forms a thin, even adhesive layer, helping to minimise pooling and support predictable results.
- CLEARFIL MAJESTY ES Flow Universal, a flowable composite that simplifies shade selection through a two-shade system. It features excellent handling characteristics and mechanical properties comparable to paste-type composites.
- CLEARFIL MAJESTY ES-2 Universal, a paste-type composite that streamlines direct restorations by reducing the number of composite shades required. Its light diffusion technology helps the material blend naturally with the surrounding tooth structure, reducing the need for complex layering and supporting highly aesthetic results.
- PANAVIA SA Cement Universal, a self-adhesive resin-based luting agent that simplifies adhesive cementation by eliminating the need for separate primers, even when bonding to zirconia or lithium disilicate. This approach reduces the number of procedural steps and supports durable adhesion.
- KATANA Cleaner, an oral surface decontaminant that rapidly removes saliva, blood and other contaminants from tooth and restoration surfaces. Suitable for both intra-oral and extra-oral use, it helps protect bond strength and contributes to predictable adhesive procedures.
Efficient workflows and clinical simplicity
Used individually, each of these products increases clinical efficiency and reduces the number of required steps. When combined strategically, they can significantly streamline clinical procedures, increase efficiency and reduce variability.
For direct restorations, clinicians can combine KATANA Cleaner, CLEARFIL Universal Bond Quick 2 and the CLEARFIL MAJESTY universal composites in a simple, efficient workflow. For indirect restorations, KATANA Cleaner and PANAVIA SA Cement Universal can be combined in a streamlined workflow, and CLEARFIL Universal Bond Quick 2 can be incorporated when enhanced adhesion to tooth structure is desired.
Universal Excellence reflects a clear philosophy: restorative dentistry should minimise unnecessary complexity so that clinicians can focus on what matters most—delivering predictable, long-lasting restorations for every patient. By combining universal materials into integrated workflows, Kuraray aims to make restorative dentistry not only more efficient but also more consistent, durable and ultimately more rewarding.
