HELSINKI, Finland: Planmeca Group has published its sustainability report for the 2025–2026 financial year, providing a comprehensive overview of its sustainability strategy, key focus areas and recent actions. The report was prepared in alignment with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, which introduces standardised sustainability reporting requirements for large companies. Planmeca Group prepared the report with reference to the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, although the directive’s reporting requirements do not yet legally apply to the group.

The report covers the sustainability matters most significantly affected by Planmeca Group’s operations, as well as those with the greatest impact on its companies and business. It presents the group’s environmental, social and governance objectives alongside qualitative and quantitative performance information, management structures, operational processes and internal policies.

Planmeca Group’s sustainability work continues to centre on four key areas: health through innovation, contributing to society, a professional and safe working environment, and respect for the environment. During 2025–2026, the group continued to conduct life cycle assessments, optimise production processes, update environmental policies and strengthen sustainability practices across its operations.

Among the report’s notable actions are improvements in waste sorting and circular practices, including the promotion of product returns for reuse, refurbishment and resale. Life cycle assessments were also carried out for KaVo Dental products, providing a more comprehensive view of environmental impacts across their life cycles and supporting further product development and sustainable product use.

The report also highlights measurable environmental improvements. Most Planmeca and Planmed products contain aluminium parts that are powder-coated for durability. At the group’s manufacturing facility in Helsinki, process improvements reduced waste coating powder by 50%, and carbon dioxide emissions fell by more than 30 tonnes through process optimisation, partial replacement of natural gas with biogas and more efficient use of the curing oven. At KaVo Dental, upgrades to lighting and air-handling systems and a reduction in the area requiring heating generated annual energy savings of approximately 254,700 kWh.
