ALTSTÄTTEN, Switzerland: On 3 October, COLTENE announced that it will be investing approximately CHF11 million (€9,609,215) in the modernisation and enlargement of its headquarters in Altstätten. With building permits granted in September, the new premises, which will house a production plant and modern office space, should be ready for occupancy by autumn 2018.

According to COLTENE, the project underscores the company’s strong commitment to its manufacturing base and highly skilled and motivated workforce in Switzerland. Owing to the strong Swiss franc, manufacturing facilities, automation of production processes, and optimisation of logistics and operating procedures in research and development, production, marketing and administration will all be further enhanced.

The two-storey production facility will primarily be utilised to increase production capacity for the growing restoratives product group. The additional manufacturing space will enable COLTENE to optimise production workflows for all of its composite products. In addition, the new building will house a redesigned production line for diamond burs and a clean room for the sterile packaging of single-use products.

Additionally, COLTENE has put particular emphasis on the well-being of its workforce, stating that employees in its marketing, R&D and administration units will enjoy a modern work environment that will further enhance the company’s attractiveness as an employer. Martin Schaufelberger, CEO of the COLTENE Group, said: “Switzerland remains an attractive and competitive manufacturing base for us, thanks in particular to the country’s first-class infrastructure and its dual system of vocational education and training. We aim to make the most of these locational advantages by investing in our workforce and in ultra-modern production assets and high-tech workplaces.”

Furthermore, Schaufelberger noted that a sound and courageous investment policy and a highly motivated workforce are vital in COLTENE’s efforts to develop and manufacture innovative products, which are critical to its sustained success in world markets.
