PHOENIX, Ariz., US: For the first time in three years, the annual meeting of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) will take place in an in-person setting. From 27 to 30 April, dental professionals with an interest in endodontics will gather in the Phoenix Convention Center for this year’s meeting (AAE22) in order to hear from a team of experts, participate in hands-on workshops, witness the latest product releases in the field and enjoy the company of peers and colleagues once again.

For ease of navigation, the educational opportunities on offer at AAE22 have been separated into seven tracks: clinical/ethical dilemmas; interdisciplinary; non-surgical root canal therapy; pain; practice management; submitted presentation; and surgical root canal therapy. For those who are unable to be there physically, select educational sessions will be livestreamed online. A rundown of the complete schedule is available on the AAE22 website.

More than just learning

According to the event organisers, there will be up to 28.5 CE hours of educational content available for in-person attendees of AAE22. In addition to this, a range of special events will be occurring across the four days. On Wednesday, 27 April, Colin O’Brady will be the keynote speaker in a general session that will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. PST in the North Ballroom. A professional endurance athlete and motivational speaker, O’Brady became the first person to complete a solo unaided crossing of Antarctica’s land mass in 2018, and his experiences have helped him form a deep understanding of what can be achieved by pushing oneself to the limit.

The President’s Breakfast will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on the following day. Hosted by AAE President Dr Alan Law, this event is open to all in-person attendees of AAE22. On Saturday, 30 April, the Edgar D. Coolidge Awards Brunch, which recognises the winners of the AAE’s most prestigious honours and awards, will be held from 10:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to participate in the AAE22 Endo Wellness Challenge throughout the event. Participants will track their steps using their smartphones and the AAE22 Endo Wellness Challenge app. The goal of the event is to promote physical and mental health in the endodontic specialty. There are a number of prizes on offer, depending on a participant’s total steps taken over the four days of AAE22—for example, the names of those who manage more than 90,000 steps will be entered into a draw for free registration for AAE23, set to be held in Chicago from 3 to 6 May 2023.

Editorial note:

Fast and easy registration for AAE22 is available through the event’s website.
