The ICD has been honouring the world’s leading dentists for exemplary service and leadership since 1920 under the motto of “Recognising service and the opportunity to serve”. At this year’s event, a select peer-reviewed group of distinguished dentists from diverse nations, including the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Guatemala, Haiti, Jamaica, Panama and Uganda, were bestowed with the prestigious ICD fellowship. These inductees are celebrated leaders, educators, practitioners and humanitarians. Their remarkable contributions span the realms of community service and professional excellence, often amid challenging circumstances, such as war, natural disasters, pandemics and civil unrest.
The convocation in New York presented a unique opportunity for the new fellows to engage with their ICD peers and industry leaders and to receive the official ICD key and materials. Furthermore, inductees gained insight into involvement in the ICD’s humanitarian, educational and leadership endeavours.
Complementing the induction ceremony, the ICD offered continuing education sessions for both fellows and GNYDM attendees, reflecting the group’s commitment to fostering education in order to promote global dental health. For example, the ICD hosted a dental implant course featuring over 100 participants.
