MILAN, Italy: The organisers of Expodental Meeting, a key event for the Italian dental industry, have announced a generous contribution in conjunction with the 2023 exhibitors to the victims of the recent floods and subsequent landslides in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The clinicians and vendors who came together during the 2023 event felt particularly touched by the ongoing disaster and impelled to offer aid and support.

The event organiser, the Italian dental industry association UNIDI, made the donation in demonstration of gratitude to the nation of Italy and those who made it possible for the 2023 event to take place amid the crisis. UNIDI President Fabio Velotti remarked: “The tragedy that hit Emilia-Romagna has touched us closely, not only as entrepreneurs overwhelmed by the disaster but as Italians. We therefore believe that the donation is a material way of conveying closeness to the population of a region that has hosted us for so many years, and we believe that it can contribute, even if minimally, to providing the means to recover sooner. The flooding that occurred in Emilia-Romagna is an Italian disaster, not a regional one, and we are all called to cooperate, according to our means, possibilities and respective strengths.”
In total, €100,000 was donated to the Agenzia per la Sicurezza Territoriale e la Protezione Civile, the agency coordinating the emergency response in the region. The next Expodental Meeting will be held from 16 to 18 May 2024 in Rimini, one of the areas affected by the disaster.
