PARIS, France: For the first time in its history, the Association Dentaire Française (ADF) congress, under the chairmanship of Dr Michel Pompignoli, is running a young talent competition to support and encourage young clinicians under 30. A group of ten finalists was selected by the ADF scientific committee, and the winner will be picked during this year’s congress, which is being held from 27 November to 1 December at the Palais des Congrès de Paris.
To participate, the contestants had to submit videos of their clinical cases taken with smartphones. The finalists, who come from all over France, will be given 10 minutes each on stage at the 2018 congress to persuade the audience and judges with their case presentations. The winning young talent will then be invited as a speaker to ADF 2019.
“Through this initiative, which brings together young people through social networks, we want to bring more young people to the congress so that they meet, complete their training, test new materials and become role-players in the ADF! Also of importance are the young researchers who will be coming to discuss where they are with their work. Young people are the future of the ADF,” said Dr Christian Verner, chairman of the 2018 scientific committee.
Competition coordinator Laurent Gineste: “The submissions met the criteria we had determined, originality, dynamism and quality of expression and presentation, and the work presented reflected great professionalism.”
The finalists are now refining their presentations ahead of the conference, each aided by a member of the scientific committee.
