GTO is OsteoBiol’s most recent product, the result of years of research that led to an innovative bone grafting material. Grafting with GTO elicits a biological response by the host tissue similar to that elicited by autogenous bone grafting; in fact, in most regenerative protocols, it can be used as an alternative to autologous bone. GTO has been developed to be a universal biomaterial, suitable for any bone defect.
This advanced material is a combination of xenogeneic bone granules embedded with collagen and a mixture of collagen gel and an aqueous solution of a biocompatible thermosensitive copolymer with a long history of use in the pharmaceutical industry. The gel mixture provides mechanical stability to the GTO dual-phase granules during the grafting procedure. The mixture also ensures optimal stickiness of the biomaterial, making the collagenic sticky bone graft easily adaptable to the recipient site and extremely stable. It is rapidly resorbed, favouring the biological regenerative process. It is recommended that the graft be protected and stabilised with a membrane or barrier, such as OsteoBiol Evolution or Lamina.
