Dry mill CoCr – as easy as wax

The non-precious (CrCo) sinter metal Ceramill Sintron, a revolutionary new development from Amann Girrbach, provides the highest processing reliability combined with maximum control, value creation and convenience. Ceramill Sintron allows fabrication of CAD/CAM-based, non-precious metal restorations in-house in the laboratory. Sintron users can dispense with external fabrication of CrCo frameworks and the often error-prone CrCo casting process.

The new CrCo sinter metal Sintron, a material which allows CNC-based, non-precious metal restorations to be fabricated in-house in the laboratory for the first time, was developed by the dental specialist Amann Girrbach, which is located in Vorarlberg, Austria. Up to now it has not been possible to dry mill this type of material on small, in-house laboratory milling machines because of the material hardness. The wax-like texture of the Ceramill Sintron blanks, however, enables the material to be easily dry milled on desktop machines. The frameworks attain their final state during the subsequent sinter process with shielding gas flushing in the Ceramill Argotherm furnace – a processing procedure comparable to that used for zirconia. Sintron CrCo restorations exhibit a very homogeneous material structure without shrinkage cavities.

The new Ceramill Sintron means that Ceramill-CAD/CAM users can replace the complex, error-prone CrCo casting process in the laboratory with the new fabrication procedure and avoid the external fabrication of frameworks. The time saved with in-house production is also greatly increased, as delivery times no longer have to be taken into account. Digital templates replace waxing up and speed up the design. In addition, the tool wear is extremely low due to the wax-like texture of the blanks. There is also no change of veneering porcelain required: any standard porcelain suitable for CrCo can be used. Fabrication of non-precious metal units has never been easier, quicker, more convenient and better to control – with maximum value creation in the laboratory.

Ceramill Sintron is the result of intensive development work by Amann Girrbach in cooperation with the leading universities worldwide and specialised institutes in the field of powder metallurgy. The process and material quality has therefore been validated at the highest level and guarantees maximum safety for the users. The high innovation strength of Amann Girrbach is based on expertise in development and excellent customer service. The product portfolio has changed in recent years with the transition to digital processes in prosthetics. Digital framework fabrication is now a permanent fixture of the product range under the umbrella of the Ceramill brand along with the conventional segments of Model Management (model fabrication and articulation) and Aesthetic Management (porcelain – veneering).

The following are available as system components: Ceramill Sintron blanks, Ceramill Argotherm sinter furnace with shielding gas flushing, Ceramill Argovent sinter box – the patented core of the system – and Ceramill Mind & Match software updates for Ceramill Sintron.
