Over five days, students took part in practical training relevant to treating their first patients, from taking a patient’s medical history to carrying out treatment. Building on the foundations of their university studies, they gained hands-on experience in restorative and bonding techniques through workshops and lectures on topics such as digital dentistry, aesthetics and patient communication. Beyond helping the participants develop their professional competencies, the Ivoclar Summer School provided the students with an opportunity to connect with fellow dental students from around the world.

“The practical sessions are my favourite part of the summer school. I can feel myself getting better day by day, especially when it comes to restorations. This is my first time in Vienna, and after the summer school, I am staying on for two more days to explore the city,” said Maria, a participant from Georgia.

Summer school participants train at Ivoclar Academies and established partner institutions

The Ivoclar Summer School is held in collaboration with established institutions at selected locations. This year’s programme took place in Berlin in Germany, in Bogotá in Colombia, Delhi in India, Lisbon in Portugal, London in the UK, Mexico City in Mexico, São Paulo in Brazil, Schaan, Warsaw in Poland and Vienna in Austria. In Lisbon, the participants trained at MALO CLINIC, an institution internationally recognised for its expertise in implantology. In London, the programme was hosted by King’s College London, whose dental school regularly ranks among the leading dental schools worldwide.

Broad international participation in 2026

The programme’s growing global reach is reflected in the diversity of its participants. In Berlin, 20 students representing11 nationalities participated—the programme’s greatest diversity in a single location this year. São Paulo, one of the four new summer school locations, hosted the largest group—25 students. At King’s, 20 students from six countries took part in the programme, and MALO CLINIC welcomed 15 participants from nine countries.

Registration for 2027

The Ivoclar Summer School next year will again take place at locations around the world, and the programmes will be held between June and September. The locations for 2027 will be announced at the start of the year, and registration will open in early March.
