SCHAAN, Liechtenstein: Switching between materials and selecting products at different stages can add complexity to direct restorative treatment. Ivoclar’s new “Simplify Your Filling Therapy” workflow brings together products for five stages of direct restorative treatment: relative isolation, bonding, restoration placement, polymerisation and polishing. The coordinated product range is intended to simplify the treatment workflow while maintaining aesthetics and quality.

Ivoclar’s “Simplify Your Filling Therapy” workflow brings together six products for five stages of direct restorative treatment in a simple and efficient workflow.

A coordinated workflow

Each product brings specific strengths to the respective treatment stage, and the products work seamlessly together throughout the workflow. They are designed to integrate into existing treatment workflows with minimal adjustment. For the practice team, this means fewer product selection decisions yet the same level of control over the treatment outcome.

The workflow at a glance

Ivoclar’s workflow for direct restorative procedures is designed to reduce complexity at every stage.

Step 1: Isolate with OptraGate 2 and OptraGate Dry Control
The latex-free OptraGate 2 lip and cheek retractor improves access to the treatment area. It is complemented by OptraGate Dry Control, a saliva ejector with an integrated tongue retractor. OptraGate Dry Control provides 270° suction coverage for effective moisture control, helping to keep the treatment area reliably dry. Its self-retaining design allows for treatment without chairside assistance.

Step 2: Bond with Adhese 2
Adhese 2 is a universal adhesive with light- and dual-polymerisation properties, suitable for direct and indirect restorations and all etching techniques. The VivaPen click mechanism enables precise dispensing and controlled intra-oral application.

Step 3: Restore with Tetric plus Fill and Tetric plus Flow
Tetric plus is a universal composite available in four shades. The material can be applied in layers of up to 4 mm and is suitable for all five cavity classes. Tetric plus is available in two viscosities: Tetric plus Fill is sculptable, and Tetric plus Flow is flowable.

Step 4: Polymerise with Bluephase PowerCure
The Bluephase PowerCure curing light features an intelligent assistant designed to detect handpiece movement during polymerisation. For selected indications, Adhese 2 and Tetric plus can be polymerised in as little as 3 seconds with Bluephase PowerCure.

Step 5: Polish with OptraGlossOptraGloss is a universal polishing system suitable for intra- and extra-oral use. Composite restorations can be polished to a high-gloss finish in one step without polishing paste. For Tetric plus, polishing takes around 10 seconds.

Commenting on the value of a coordinated workflow in clinical practice, Dr Martin von Sontagh, a dentist from Austria, said: “Direct restorative treatment can be challenging—which is why a workflow I can rely on is all the more important to me. Six products in one test kit

Dentists can obtain a test kit containing all the products used in the workflow, except for Bluephase PowerCure. An Ivoclar representative will provide the kit and demonstrate the workflow at the dental practice. Quick-start videos and concise product information can be accessed via QR codes on the test packs and in the accompanying information leaflet, helping dentists try out the workflow in their own practice.
