LEIPZIG, Germany: The Planmeca European Roadshow made a stop in Leipzig on 27 August, bringing a range of dental solutions directly to dental teams based in and around the city. Hosted by the German dental distributor Plandent, the event included an exhibition of dental products in the upper sections of Leipzig’s main football stadium, as well as Planmeca’s signature mobile showroom, kitted out with the company’s latest equipment and digital technologies.
The mobile showroom invited attendees into an immersive and hands-on experience. Inside were solutions such as the fully ambidextrous Planmeca Pro50 series of dental chair units, the Planmeca Viso line of next-generation CBCT machines, the company’s 2D-imaging and CAD/CAM solutions, and the forthcoming Planmeca Creo X dental 3D printer. The over 150 attendees also discovered and tested the Romexis Insights IoT software solution for maximising clinic efficiency and were able to view KaVo instruments and the HeySmile aligner solution up close.
Fresh from its first two stops in Riga in Latvia and Kaunas in Lithuania, the showroom offered attendees in Leipzig the chance to explore the benefits of complete digital dentistry solutions in a relaxed and convenient manner, aided by product experts and in the company of fellow dental professionals. Upstairs, various booths exhibited Plandent’s expertise across the breadth of dental practice, including in materials, new techniques and the laboratory.
Attendees also had the chance to explore the inner workings and VIP areas of the Red Bull Arena. This modern 47,800-capacity stadium is home to the city’s first-division football team.

Bringing solutions to customers

Planmeca is one of the largest dental equipment producers in Europe and serves many customers in Leipzig and the surrounding states of Saxony and Thuringia, where Plandent, part of Planmeca Group, is also well known. Michael Beckers, co-managing director at Plandent, told Dental Tribune International that the companies’ collaboration to bring dental solutions directly to customers was the result of recent successful in-house events.
He explained: “Earlier this year, we had an event at our headquarters in Munster, where we had roughly 1,200 people in attendance. We then decided to bring a version of the exhibition to a variety of locations, the aim being to provide information to dentists about the latest trends in dentistry and to support the increased efficiency achieved through seamless digital workflows.”
Asked about the market position of the technologies on show, Beckers highlighted that Planmeca’s products are receiving due attention from universities. He commented, “Word has gotten around among European dentistry lecturers”, adding that “researchers and IT professionals at European universities understand the urgent need for a secure data system such as that delivered by Romexis”.
The roadshow was headed west as this article went live, due to stop in Ghent and Genval in Belgium on 4 September and 5 September, respectively, and in Haren in the Netherlands on 9 September. It will then tour the Nordic countries before heading through Switzerland, Austria.
