BASEL, Switzerland: The Women Implantology Network (WIN) will host a Global Online Symposium on 9 and 10 June under the motto “Your implant journey: From basics to beyond”. Featuring a panel of expert speakers, the compact two-day symposium is free to attend and aims to help participants to increase their knowledge of all stages of the dental implant treatment workflow.
Taking place under the banner of implant specialist Straumann Group, the WIN event promotes inclusiveness in implantology and is open to all dental professionals who wish to improve their skills and confidence in implant treatment.
Day one of the event will focus on the planning of implant treatment and will include presentations on the importance of the initial case assessment, applying prosthodontically driven planning, and the use of the Smilecloud treatment planning and communication software platform.
On day two, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the ways in which digital workflows can improve efficiency and treatment outcomes, key aspects of maintenance and homecare for long-term success and how to recognise and minimise complications. Tips on how practitioners can set up their own innovative dental implant practice will also be provided.
“It is very exciting to see how women clinicians from all over the world have collaborated to deliver a very well‑rounded programme”—Dr Acela Martinez
One of the expert speakers is Dr Acela Martinez, associate professor and division director of clinical implantology at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine in Greenville in the US. Dr Martinez will hold a presentation on day two of the symposium on the topic of digital workflows to improve efficiency and treatment outcomes. Dr Martinez told Dental Tribune International (DTI) that she is looking forward to sharing some of her experiences related to digital workflows with participants and discussing the learning curves involved. “This presentation will cover straightforward to advanced cases and highlight how these technologies could be useful for clinicians with all levels of expertise; therefore, everybody is welcome! It is my goal that the attendees learn something they can apply in their clinical practice or get some new ideas,” Dr Martinez said.
The event will run from 17:00 to 20:00 (CEST) on 9 June and from 9:00 to 12:45 (CEST) on 10 June. Both days will be moderated by Dr Adela Laverick, a UK prosthodontic specialist and WIN committee member.
WIN was founded in 2016 under the auspices of Straumann Group as a worldwide network of dentists and dental technicians who wish to advance the role of women in the field of implantology. Dental professionals of all genders are welcome to join the network, which embraces collaboration across specialties, generations, genders and cultures in order to broadly advance the provision of dental implant therapy. Dr Martinez told DTI: “It is very exciting to see how women clinicians from all over the world have collaborated to deliver a very well-rounded programme that is accessible for everyone who is interested in learning more about WIN and implantology.”
