BASEL, Switzerland: Straumann Group has announced the appointment of Christopher Norbye as CEO, effective from 1 December, as part of a planned leadership transition. He will succeed Guillaume Daniellot, who has decided to step down after almost 20 years with the company, including seven years as CEO.
Straumann said in a press release that the appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the company, reflecting its ambition to further strengthen its market position and accelerate profitable growth. Norbye recently stepped down as CEO of Swedish multinational refrigeration wholesaler Beijer Ref, where, according to Straumann, sales more than doubled and profit tripled during his tenure. He has more than 20 years of international leadership experience across the US, China and Europe, including eight years in medical technologies and other regulated markets. His areas of expertise include digital transformation and scaling international businesses.
Norbye commented: “I am excited to join Straumann Group at an important point in its development. The group has an outstanding foundation, built on a strong culture, close customer relationships and a clear commitment to innovation. Returning to medtech is particularly meaningful to me because of its patient-centred purpose and close connection to customers. I look forward to working with the strong management team and colleagues across the group to build on the momentum and drive the next phase of customer-focused, profitable growth.”
Chair of the board Petra Rumpf said that Straumann Group was delighted to welcome Norbye, adding: “His strategic judgement, customer focus and execution mindset are an excellent fit with our culture. The board is confident that his international experience, leadership qualities and proven ability to drive profitable growth will enable him to lead the group into its next phase of growth.”
Rumpf thanked Daniellot for his outstanding contribution. She said that, under his leadership, the group had made significant gains in market share and positioned itself as a leader in digitally enabled dental workflows.
Daniellot commented: “It has been a true privilege and an extraordinary journey to serve and lead Straumann Group for so long. I’m deeply grateful for the experience and for the progress the entire company has made during this time, rallying so many outstanding talents, customers and partners behind a meaningful purpose. I am pleased to be handing over the helm when the company is in great shape to continue delivering on its ambitious promises. Having come to know Christopher, I am convinced that he is an excellent fit with Straumann Group’s culture and will be a strong asset to the management team.”
Norbye will join Straumann Group in October for the planned leadership transition, and Daniellot will complete his term of office at the end of November. Daniellot will support the transition and continue to work with key customers.
