BASEL, Switzerland/Birmingham, Ala., US: BioHorizons Camlog is thrilled to be joining the second European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) Digital Days. As a diamond sponsor, BioHorizons Camlog will be hosting an exciting industry forum on Wednesday evening. The company looks forward to welcoming participants to a lively relay session.
With the improvement of tissue regeneration techniques and implant longevity at its heart, the BioHorizons Camlog industry forum will feature four world-renowned implant dentistry experts and educators from across Europe and the US. Each keynote lecturer will share his or her clinical recommendations for achieving the desired aesthetic results via a multidisciplinary approach, based on the latest scientific findings.
At the starting line will be Dr Ramón Gómez Meda from Spain, presenting on immediate loading and aesthetic results with guided surgery. He will explore the impact of a conical connection with integrated platform shifting on the emergence profile and 3D positioning of the implant. The lecture will draw on scientific evidence and a serial visualisation of treatment steps implemented in a daily dental routine, highlighting the options of digital data capture and CAD/CAM technologies. The preconditions to be explored all facilitate a guided treatment approach and result in high predictability and long-term implant stability.
Taking up the baton, Prof. Katja Nelson from Germany will discuss soft-tissue management for crestal bone stability around implants and the exciting clinical results she has obtained using NovoMatrix. She will share her scientific results using this novel reconstructive dermal tissue matrix during clinical procedures for soft-tissue thickening and other indications. Her lecture will include an evaluation of implants with various types of connections and how this influences early changes to crestal bone level. In addition, Nelson will explain how the composition of the soft tissue can be enhanced using autologous or heterologous materials, thus contributing to long-term stability. Scientific data illustrating the differences between available soft-tissue substitutes will be presented.
Zooming in on biologics, Prof. Marc Quirynen from Belgium will share his experience with leucocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) matrices and how their addition improves membrane healing via the release of growth factors and provides an antibacterial barrier. He will discuss how combining L-PRF—a second-generation platelet concentrate, which is an autologous blood-derived product—creates strong, thick matrices. These membranes release significant amounts of growth factors over a long period and possess antibacterial capacity. Quirynen will also outline how L-PRF and autologous liquid fibrinogen mixed with particulate bone substitute will form a relatively strong bone block.
In the homestretch, Dr Michael A. Pikos from the US will share his insights into expanding treatment options with the use of short implants while respecting specific treatment criteria and exploiting improved implant designs. He will review crucial treatment criteria for using short implants to better understand how they can deliver predictable implant treatment, thus avoiding potential morbidity associated with bone augmentation, longer treatment times and increased costs.
The company’s industry forum will be broadcast live on 13 October from 8:25 p.m. to 8:55 p.m. CET. Each lecture will be available on demand at www.biohorizonscamlog.com/eao until 8 November.
