VIENNA, Austria: Dentaid is an international company dedicated to promoting and improving people’s oral health throughout their lives by advancing research, education and the development of innovative products. As a gold sponsor of EuroPerio11 and oral health partner of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), Dentaid is also an exhibitor at the organisation’s congress, which is currently taking place in Vienna.
The company focuses on both the treatment and prevention of oral disease and collaborates closely with the international scientific community to enhance clinical practice and treatment adherence in the field of periodontics. Through its brands, such as VITIS, Interprox, Perio·Aid and PHB, Dentaid reaches more than 35 million people in over 50 countries.
Responding to the unmet needs of dental professionals and patients, Dentaid has expanded and standardised its well-known range of interdental brushes by introducing the comprehensive Interprox line. Developed in collaboration with experts from Heidelberg University in Germany, the new range adheres to scientifically validated size criteria to ensure effective cleaning of all interproximal spaces. This innovation simplifies product selection and supports clinical recommendation, providing patients with reliable oral care solutions adaptable to their needs throughout life.
Another innovation is VITIS Anti-stain toothpaste, formulated to reduce staining typically associated with the use of antiseptics such as chlorhexidine. Thanks to its anti-stain system and the inclusion of cetylpyridinium chloride, this solution maintains antiseptic efficacy while caring for gingival health, making it easier to prescribe and encouraging better treatment continuity.
Eduard Ticó, Dentaid’s global marketing director, said: “The innovations we develop aim to facilitate clinical practice and support patients throughout their therapeutic journey. This is particularly crucial in periodontics, where prevention, maintenance and active patient involvement are key to long-term success.”
Dentaid’s solutions are scientifically backed and developed at the Dentaid Research Center, a leading innovation and knowledge hub for oral health in Europe based in Barcelona in Spain.
At EuroPerio11, Dentaid is hosting a presentation by Prof. David Herrera and Dr Nicola Discepoli, titled “Beyond active periodontal treatment: Empowering patients during supportive periodontal care.” The session will explore the support of patients during the maintenance phase and highlight the importance of understanding this stage from the patient’s perspective. The session is taking place today from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Stolz 1 conference room.
In terms of public awareness, Dentaid supports the EFP’s international campaign to raise public understanding of the link between oral and general health. According to an Economist Intelligence Unit report, commissioned by the EFP, up to 90% of adults globally have gingivitis, and in around 40% of cases, the condition progresses to periodontitis—the leading cause of tooth loss and a condition with a bidirectional relationship with systemic diseases such as diabetes. These figures are further supported by a study published in the International Dental Journal. Despite the high prevalence of periodontal disease, 90% of periodontal issues are preventable. The EFP’s campaign combines a global perspective with local action in the countries where Dentaid operates.
According to Ticó: “At Dentaid, we have been committed to people’s oral health for 45 years, providing effective science-based solutions to help more people achieve healthier mouths. I enjoy seeing how the company continues to evolve while staying true to innovation, professional education and the development of new oral health solutions.”
