BERLIN, Germany: Oral-B has unveiled its Oral-B iO Series 2 (iO2), a new model in its revolutionary iO technology range. The Oral-B iO2 is being introduced as a more accessible model, thoughtfully designed in collaboration with and for users of manual toothbrushes. During the launch event, guests gained valuable insights from experts in fields such as oral care, psychology and product innovation and experienced the iO technology in action.

Oral-B has demonstrated that a key component of sustainable and healthy oral care is the use of an electric toothbrush with iO technology. A four-week clinical study with 90 participants showed that Oral‑B iO toothbrushes remove 100% more plaque compared with manual toothbrushes and promote 100% healthier gingivae by providing optimal gingival protection. It also proved that the Oral‑B iO2 delivers 150% more plaque removal in difficult-to-reach areas of the mouth.

Rethinking oral care: Oral-B iO2 makes switching easy

The Oral-B iO2 has been designed to deliver better brushing results and to make the transition from a manual toothbrush to an electric one as simple and comfortable as possible. The release of this entry-level model is a step towards Oral–B’s mission to achieve a widespread move away from manual brushing to superior electric oral care. The Oral-B iO2 offers an accessible introduction to iO technology, combining advanced oral care with affordability to reach a broader audience and support long-term improvements in oral health—and it is very quiet.

Exploring why changing habits matters: Oral-B iO2 launch event provides insights

Experts in behavioural psychology and dental hygiene, as well as Oral-B’s research and development team, explained why change is important and the significance of rethinking and altering personal routines. Hosted by German presenter and podcaster Sebastian E. Merget, the event offered attending journalists fascinating insights into personal habits—and how to understand and sustainably change them.

German psychologist Pia Kabitzsch explored the psychological dynamics of habits and provided practical tips for successfully establishing new routines. Oral-B dentist Dr Daniel P. Grotzer and dental hygienist Christin Steffen highlighted the crucial role of oral care for overall health and challenged the guests with a quiz testing their general knowledge on oral health and dental care. Personal trainer and motivational coach Erik Jäger asked the audience, “What moves you?” and shared his personal journey to a more active, healthier lifestyle.

A smart innovation: Oral-B iO2 brings fresh energy to old routines

Dr Maria Wegemann, research and development product innovation manager at Procter & Gamble, which owns the Oral–B brand, unveiled the new Oral–B iO2. Guests had the opportunity to experience the toothbrush first-hand at a test station and were convinced by both the simple and intuitive handling and the gentle, effective brushing of the new Oral-B iO2.

Available in the stylish colour options of Night Black, Forest Green and Calm Pink, the Oral-B iO2 is beautifully designed, and it offers numerous user-friendly features that make switching to an electric toothbrush the obvious choice:

  • all-in-one control button for simple and intuitive operation;
  • integrated 2-minute timer to ensure the brushing duration recommended by dentists;
  • automatic pressure sensor that reduces brush speed and turns red when too much pressure is applied, protecting the gingivae;
  • three cleaning intensity levels, always starting on the super-sensitive setting, for an ultra-gentle and customisable brushing experience; and
  • smart bristles that diminish in colour to indicate when the brush head needs replacing, ensuring users of the full cleaning performance of the Oral-B iO2.

“By collaborating with and receiving direct feedback from manual toothbrush users, we were able to develop the Oral-B iO2—a product designed to make the switch from manual to electric brushing as simple and intuitive as possible,” said Dr Wegemann.
