FRANKFURT AM MAIN, Germany: Owing to an unfavourable scheduling constellation and the challenging situation in the additive manufacturing industry, Formnext Chicago will not take place in 2025 and will be postponed. The current environment of economic challenges and geopolitical uncertainties and the transformation that the additive manufacturing industry is undergoing are putting many companies under considerable pressure. In addition, the clash of dates with RAPID + TCT Detroit made it more difficult for exhibitors and visitors to commit to one of two important events.

Mesago Messe Frankfurt, the organiser of Formnext in Germany, tried to resolve the scheduling situation with all parties involved, but was ultimately unsuccessful. “After careful consideration and intensive discussions with our key partners, we have jointly decided to postpone the start of Formnext Chicago, which was originally scheduled for 8–10 April 2025. This decision was not taken lightly. We are convinced that it is in the best interests of the industry and the companies involved,” explained Sascha Wenzler, vice president at Mesago Messe Frankfurt.

In partnership with the Association For Manufacturing Technology (AMT)—which organises the International Manufacturing Technology Show—and Gardner Business Media, Mesago Messe Frankfurt is committed to developing a new strategic approach for the US market. “Our priority is to support the buyer and seller community in ways that truly benefit their businesses, and we believe this is the best course of action to achieve that goal,” confirmed Douglas Woods, president of AMT. Together with all industry partners, this will ensure that future events are well timed and remain aligned with the needs of the additive manufacturing industry.

“We thank our partners and the entire community for their support and understanding and look forward to working together to shape the next steps for Formnext in the US,” added Petra Haarburger, president of Mesago Messe Frankfurt.

Formnext Chicago aims to introduce additive manufacturing and its added value in particular to companies in the US who have not yet come into contact with this exciting technology and to show how it can be used successfully and profitably on an industrial scale. The event partners will continue to pursue this objective. For this reason, strategic considerations are already underway in dialogue with the industry in order to provide even greater support and to drive the growing industrialisation of additive manufacturing in the US.
