TOKYO, Japan: The sixth GC International Dental Symposium opened today at the Tokyo International Forum, bringing together more than 7,000 dental professionals from around the world for two days of scientific exchange, clinical education and networking. Organised by GC Corp., the international meeting features 72 lectures covering a broad range of topics across contemporary dentistry.

The scientific programme reflects the increasingly multidisciplinary nature of dental care, addressing restorative and aesthetic dentistry, prosthodontics, periodontics, implant dentistry, endodontics, aligner therapy, dental materials and digital workflows. Prevention, public health and professional leadership also feature prominently, alongside sessions examining comprehensive rehabilitation and the management of complex cases.

Restorative dentistry is another major focus of the meeting. Sessions will explore direct composite techniques, aesthetic integration, material selection and minimally invasive approaches, as well as developments in glass ionomer and glass hybrid materials. Other presentations will examine emerging dental materials, reinforced restorative structures and the validation of digital diagnostic and prosthetic workflows.

Commenting on the opening of the symposium, Dr Per Falk, CEO of GC Holding, said: “Today, more than 7,000 participants from around the world are bringing the sixth International Dental Symposium to life. As knowledge is shared, new ideas emerge and new partnerships are formed. This global exchange reflects GC’s commitment to trust, quality, scientific excellence and shaping the future of dentistry.”

The symposium has attracted participants from across Europe, Asia, the Americas and other regions, reflecting the international reach of the two-day event. According to the organisers, around 1,000 participants have travelled from Europe, and final attendance figures for the other regions are still being compiled.

The symposium is being held as part of GC’s One Week of Excellence, an extended programme combining scientific education with hands-on sessions, networking and cultural activities in Japan. These include organised visits in Tokyo and to Nikkō as well as opportunities to gain insights into GC’s manufacturing and research activities and Japanese culture.

The symposium continues on tomorrow Simultaneous interpretation in Japanese and English is available, and participants can earn ADA CERP continuing education credits. More information about the programme can be found on the event website.
