FREIBURG, Germany: In order to offer dental professionals the opportunity to enhance their skills in reconstructive dentistry with digital solutions, the Oral Reconstruction Foundation will be holding the Digital Dentistry Week this month and in March. Organised in cooperation with founding partner BioHorizons Camlog, the event will include four online webinars and four days of hands-on training at the University of Freiberg.
Experts and instructors at the university will discuss how digital scanning and impression devices can be used most effectively and how their data can be matched for accurate case planning. They will explain how to use digital devices and aids for guided implantology and how to manage cases of different complexities using backward planning. In addition, there will be a presentation on how to increase the bone volume around implant beds by means of differing augmentation methods.
Four online classes
In the webinar sessions, Prof. Benedikt Spies and Dr Florian Kernen will discuss the planning and treatment of simple and complex cases with intra-oral scanners, CBCT and planning software. In addition, treatment using extra-oral scanners will be highlighted for complex cases.
Prof. Katja Nelson and Dr Tobias Fretwurst will talk about the basics of implant surgery and give insights into advanced implant surgery such as bone grafting and soft-tissue management.
The live webinars will take place on 14, 21 and 28 February and 14 March from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. CET and will include a 15-minute Q & A session.
Four days of on-site training
The hands-on sessions will be delivered by Prof. Spies, Dr Kernen and master dental technician Siegbert Witkowski and will be held at the University of Freiburg from 23 to 26 March.
The experts will provide practical courses on 3D printers, milling units, intra-oral scanners and implant planning software. Other important topics will be the management of risk patients, augmentation procedures, peri-implant disease prevention, bone grafting and bone-splitting techniques. Participants will also have the opportunity to experience a tour through the university, followed by a discussion of surgical instruments.
Dental professionals may earn up to 28 continuing education credits for attendance at the Digital Dentistry Week. In order to ensure close interaction with the speakers and a qualitative learning experience, the number of participants is limited. All sessions will be held in English. Further information on the event can be found on the Oral Reconstruction Foundation website.
