COLOGNE, Germany: Based in Quebec in Canada, Panthera Dental, a global leader in CAD/CAM implant solutions and dental sleep appliance design and manufacture, has launched a new revolutionary product at this year’s IDS: the Magnet-X. Part of the company’s Integrated Bar product line, the Magnet-X is a removable wrap-around bar that offers a new solution for all-on-X patients. The Magnet-X was developed with the technical advice of Dr Miles Reed Cone and offers permanent stable magnetic retention that keeps the denture in place. This is a world first, developed in response to geriatric patients’ needs.
The magnetic forces guide the denture to the correct position and keep it in place. Because the magnets self-align the bar into the right position, the patient does not need to find the right position or chew to move the denture into place. The magnetic male and female parts provide a durable solution and constant retention, and the entire solution has no wear parts to replace.
Thanks to the custom abutments that are included with the bar, the Magnet-X solution adapts to implant angulations of up to 30° for alignment of the restoration to the occlusal plane. The custom abutments are attached directly to the implants, avoiding the need for multi-unit abutments.
“This innovation is the result of years of research and development. Our team’s knowledge and manufacturing capabilities, and the quality of the magnetic attachments of German company steco-system-technik have led to this world’s first magnetic bar,” said Gabriel Robichaud, CEO of Panthera Dental.
In addition to the advantages of its magnetic retention, the Magnet-X offers the same benefits as the company’s Nylon Integrated Bar: it is compatible with over 200 implant platforms and provides the same ease of handling and hygienic advantages of a removable prosthesis.
“The Magnet-X implant bar represents a major evolution of removable treatment planning for our edentulous patients. The easy-to-follow protocols and maintenance-free attachments make the Magnet-X bar an essential part of my prosthetic armamentarium,” Dr Cone commented.
