BIRMINGHAM, UK: One subject that was on everyone’s mind at the inaugural British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show was the imminent General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For dental practitioners seeking easy GDPR compliance and protection from the risk of misdiagnosis, PROPACS from Pro Diagnostics UK offers a solution and the company was present at the event to explain the service.
The innovative technology, a cloud-based Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), was on display for the 13,000 dental professionals who gathered at the event on 18 and 19 May. PROPACS provides dentists with easy access to reliable reports from specialist radiologists, all from the comfort of their practices. Not only does this serve to reduce the risk of errors during the diagnostic phase, but it also offers medico-legal protection for the practitioner and an outstanding service for the patient through GDPR-compliant patient informed consent referral forms.
In addition, the state-of-the-art system provides a safe, off-site archive for diagnostic images and reports, as well as makes use of recommended defragmentation and encryption protocols for total security and GDPR compliance.
“The system is easy to use and the reports generated are highly systematic and detailed,” said Dr Kunal Shah, principal dentist of LeoDental in London. “I simply take the radiograph, send it securely to the experts for review and receive the report within 24 hours for a very efficient process. Ultimately, working with a specialist radiologist means I can deliver the best possible service to all of my patients. It also protects me against any potential legal issues in the future.”
