LONDON, England: Henry Schein UK has launched Smilers and Smilers Expert, twin aligner solutions aimed at general dental practitioners and orthodontists, respectively. According to Henry Schein, the products provide customisable treatment for malocclusion that empowers dental practitioners to deliver premium orthodontic care.
The company announced the launch in a press release, where it was explained that Smilers and Smilers Expert are backed by over ten years of research and enable clinicians to customise treatment, including by choosing the aligner material thickness. Tom Popeck, CEO of Henry Schein’s Healthcare Specialties Group, said that the company was thrilled “to present [a] high-quality and innovative clear aligner solution that aims to empower dental professionals to deliver high-end orthodontic care while providing patients with an exceptional treatment experience”.
Manufactured using 3D-printing technology, Smilers feature a smooth surface, a scalloped trim line and hand-polished finish that enhance wearer comfort.
The Smilers brand is powered by Nemotec’s NemoCast software suite, a cloud-based solution that supports clinicians by providing treatment visualisation and diagnostic support. Various aspects of the treatment can be directly modified, such as the timeline for each tooth at each stage of aligner treatment. The suite’s smile set-up tool provides several features, including movement complexity analysis, control of occlusal contacts and a simultaneous CBCT overlay that details root segmentation. Furthermore, the software provides users with access to a comprehensive attachment library, supervised interproximal reduction and Bolton analysis.
Henry Schein also explained the benefits that Smilers and Smilers Expert provide to patients. Manufactured using 3D-printing technology, they feature a smooth surface that assists in maintaining clarity throughout treatment and a scalloped trim line and hand-polished finish that enhance wearer comfort. Used in combination with Henry Schein’s Sagittal First treatment approach, the product can reduce treatment time.
Patrick Allen, vice president of distribution and commercial development for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region at Henry Schein, commented: “The introduction of these cutting-edge aligners represents a key milestone in our strategy to offer a comprehensive range of high-quality dental products that meet the needs of both the patients and the dental professionals.”
The aligners are manufactured in France using renewable energy sources and production methods that reduce waste. Henry Schein gained access to the Nemotec software in 2023 when it acquired a majority stake in the France-based Biotech Dental Group.
