Dr Thomas Hirt, Director of Organic Chemistry at Ivoclar Vivadent, will succeed Dr Volker Rheinberger as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the beginning of June 2013. Dr Rheinberger will step down from day-to-day operations and become a new member of the company’s Supervisory Board.
With the Swiss Dr Thomas Hirt (46), an experienced executive is taking responsibility for research and development at Ivoclar Vivadent. The departing Dr Rheinberger is very satisfied with the planned succession: “With Thomas Hirt, we have found a very competent successor. The transfer of office has been carefully planned and prepared in advance. Thus, I am convinced that Dr Hirt will familiarize himself quickly with the details of his new position,“ he said.
Hirt, who joined Ivoclar Vivadent in 2010, has previously headed the company’s Organic Chemistry sector. “I very much look forward to assuming responsibility for the R&D department, particularly because the company is distinguished by its innovative products and dental technologies,” Hirt stated.
After the transfer of office, Dr Rheinberger (65), a native of Liechtenstein, will retire from day-to-day operations and join the company’s Supervisory Board. Rheinberger has worked for Ivoclar Vivadent since 1983 and has been a member of the Corporate Management since 1987. In the past 30 years, he has contributed decisively to the positive development of the company. Under his leadership, the operational and strategic further development of the R&D sector was initiated and implemented. His merits include the creation of an internal fundamental research department dedicated to developing new technologies which have been instrumental in driving the company’s success.
