THESSALONIKI, Greece: With attendees from several countries, as well as multiple presentations and workshops, the organisers of the sixth European Division Congress of the World Federation for Laser Dentistry (WFLD) conclude it to have been their most successful conference to date. Under the theme “Bringing laser to sunlight”, the organisers set out to facilitate the forming of new networks between the many partners within laser dentistry and to lead the way in an ever-growing market.

According to the WFLD, more than 400 participants from 34 countries attended the congress. The event offered around 100 oral presentations, 30 e-poster presentations, eight workshops and 23 sponsors all under the 500 m2 exhibition roof.

“It was two years of work that led to this and we are proud that many new dentists have entered the world of laser dentistry through this event. The scientific and social programmes were meticulously planned and executed in order to have a balance and a full-speed rhythm throughout the congress,” said Dr Dimitris Strakas, Chairman of the WFLD European Division and head of the congress organising committee.

With opinion leaders, clinicians and young researchers all presenting their work, as well as new laser devices and technological improvements to many available products, attendees were keen to discuss, learn and test new pieces of equipment. “The goal was always to unite the dental laser world and elevate the level of such a congress in a way that every participant would be eagerly anticipating the next event,” said Strakas.

The 16th World Congress of the WFLD will be held from 1 to 3 October 2018 in Aachen in Germany.
