WALS, Austria/MÜNSTER, Germany: Dentsply Sirona, worldwide provider of professional dental products, has announced the acquisition of Cleverdent. The British company, which is based in Germany, is the developer of ClasenUNO, an innovative fusion of a dental mirror and a high-volume evacuation tip that is an ideal complement to Dentsply Sirona’s product portfolio.

Cleverdent was founded in 2004 by dentist Dr Stephan Clasen and his business partner Dr Martin Kayser. The company developed and marketed the award-winning ClasenUNO invented by Clasen.

According to Dentsply Sirona, its mission is to help dental professionals deliver better, safer and faster dental care. With the acquisition of Cleverdent, dental professionals will benefit from a more efficient workflow across multiple treatments. ClasenUNO allows greater efficiency for two-handed dentistry, thus reducing the need for four-handed procedures and leaving the assistant free to perform other tasks. The advantages of indirect vision and illumination through the mirror in combination with high-volume evacuation can be applied in numerous wet and dry procedures, such as in preventative and restorative dentistry, including ultrasonic scaling and air polishing.

“This product supports our customers with innovative technology and optimises Dentsply Sirona's dental solutions so we can deliver even better clinical outcomes,” said Mark Trimmer, Interim Group Vice President of Global Preventives.

ClasenUNO was presented for the first time at the 2015 International Dental Show and successfully launched in Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. Since then, the mirror–aspirator has also been made available in France, Portugal, Switzerland and South Africa.
