CHARLOTTE, N.C., US: To coincide with World Environment Day on 5 June, Dentsply Sirona is offering dental professionals who want to develop a more sustainable practice a three-part resource pack that includes a sustainability education curriculum, a toolkit and a sustainability pledge. Continuing education credits are valid for the US and Canada for each completed course of the curriculum.

A global study conducted by Dentsply Sirona among over 1,300 dentists found that more than three-quarters of them believe that there is a lack of education on sustainability in dentistry. The resources offered by Dentsply Sirona in the Sustainability in Dentistry Resource Kit are unparalleled and include courses offered by sustainability experts and experienced dentists. Because Dentsply Sirona is a co-founder of FDI World Dental Federation’s Sustainability in Dentistry initiative, the toolkit offered in the resource pack offers direct, actionable options for dentists to use in order to further sustainability in their practices. Clinicians can win awards for their efforts in this area by engaging in sustainability challenges through the interactive toolkit once they have registered.

In addition, clinicians can register for the virtual FDI Sustainability in Dentistry Summit, which will be held on 5 June. The event will showcase research projects, innovation and practical case studies demonstrating the possibilities of reducing environmental impact. Interested participants from low-income countries can access a bursary fund to attend.

The new resources are all part of Dentsply Sirona’s broader sustainability strategy called “BEYOND: Taking action for a brighter world”, which aims to make oral health more accessible globally, aid in protection of the environment, foster inclusivity in the workplace and in society, and demonstrate what it means to be a trustworthy corporate citizen. To achieve all of these goals, Dentsply Sirona works actively to foster cooperation across the dental industry and achieve changes for a more sustainable future.
