CHARLOTTE, N.C., US: As part of its commitment to bringing high-quality clinical education to dental professionals, Dentsply Sirona is expanding its DS Academy clinical education opportunities with the online DS Academy Campus. The new campus will give dental professionals access to a range of live and on-demand content on topics in orthodontics and in implant and restorative dentistry, focusing on digital. The first free, live webinars will be available on the platform in October.

Dentsply Sirona is launching the DS Academy Campus as an additional point of engagement within its wider clinical education programme, the DS Academy, which also provides technical and product education. The DS Academy Campus will focus on high-quality educational content concerning innovative trends and topics in digital dentistry. From digital aligner workflows to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into daily dental practice, Dentsply Sirona aims to build its DS Academy Campus community together with future-oriented practices and clinicians.

The DS Academy Campus will feature a series of webinars covering major topics in digital dentistry and in implant and clear aligner therapy. Dr Michael Parchewsky from Calgary in Alberta in Canada will hold the first live webinar on 26 October at 8 p.m. (EST), titled “Artificial intelligence: From oral health to systemic health—how AI can help support dentistry”. Speaking about the timely topic, Dr Parchewsky commented: “AI has made a lot of news recently, as the technology is developing rapidly. But how will this impact my work as a clinician? How can I leverage the power of AI systems to benefit my practice and my patients? I am excited for the opportunity to present my thoughts and have a lively discussion with the online audience in October.”

The second live webinar, titled “Predictable results with clear aligner therapy”, will take place on 15 November at 8 p.m. (EST) and be presented by Dr Sara Mahmood from Dallas in the US. Further live webinars by distinguished expert speakers will take place approximately once a month.

The company is committed to helping dental professionals to maintain the highest standards of patient care and to achieve their professional goals. For this reason, many of the on-demand courses and webinars on the platform will provide continuing education credits.

High-quality education and multiple ways to access it

Each year, the DS Academy educates almost half a million dental professionals in-person and online. Clinical education is a pillar of the company’s mission and vision to transform dentistry in order to improve global oral health. For this reason, Dentsply Sirona offers multiple ways to access courses and gain clinical expertise. For many dental professionals, hands-on and in-person education is imperative. Dentsply Sirona therefore has 55 education centres located in 33 countries at which dental professionals can learn the latest techniques and digital workflows and experience the innovations that are helping to shape dentistry.

The company also organises outstanding clinical education events, such as its flagship DS World, which continues to expand into new regions, bringing in new audiences in different parts of the globe. With over 100 courses taught by more than 75 local and international instructors, and two live surgeries taking place, participants at DS World 2023 in Las Vegas in the US can customise their learning journey and have an unforgettable experience at the event this month.

Online education offers a solution for those who are unable to attend an in-person educational opportunity. To meet this need, Dentsply Sirona continues to expand its library of online clinical education courses.

Erania Brackett, senior vice president of orthodontic aligner solutions and customer experience at Dentsply Sirona, commented: “Clinical education is paramount for professional development and for ensuring the best care for patients. As digitalisation transforms workflows and dental practices, Dentsply Sirona wants to ensure that learning new skills and techniques is as convenient and as engaging as possible—the DS Academy Campus will ensure that. The live webinars feature a carefully curated line-up of experts who will delve into important topics, starting with one that is currently on everyone’s mind: artificial intelligence!”
