CHARLOTTE, N.C., US: DS World 2025, held in September at MGM Grand Las Vegas, brought together thousands of dental professionals for three days of innovation, education and entertainment. This year’s event also marked a major milestone: the 40th anniversary of CEREC, Dentsply Sirona’s pioneering chairside CAD/CAM system that has continued to transform digital dentistry.

Dentsply Sirona’s new CEO, Daniel Scavilla, joined clinical experts like Spear Education faculty member Dr Michael Skramstad and CDOCS mentor Dr Shivi Gupta to showcase how connected dentistry, powered by integrated, data-driven technologies, can streamline workflows, foster collaboration and elevate patient care. The main stage also featured keynote speaker Ellen Latham, founder of Orangetheory Fitness, who shared powerful insights on leadership and business growth. Entertainment highlights included performances by Emmy award-winning comedian Dana Carvey and Grammy award-winner Sheryl Crow.

Serving as master of ceremonies, US dentist Dr Mona Patel energised the audience with humour and heartfelt reflections on the power of community and technology, embodying this year’s theme, “Empowering Connection”. “The future of dentistry isn’t something that happens to us; it’s something we build together,” Dr Patel remarked. Reflecting on her own professional journey, which began at DS World a decade ago, she added: “Being at DS World opened my eyes and opened doors—I came home empowered to create a state-of-the-art digital dental practice.”

As DS World 2025 celebrated four decades of the CEREC system, it also looked ahead to the future task of empowering dental professionals to connect, learn and lead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. This forward-looking spirit was reflected in the unveiling of new solutions that build on CEREC’s legacy of innovation:

  • CEREC workflow on DS Core: This workflow allows dental professionals to receive artificial intelligence-powered margin and design proposals for crowns, inlays and onlays directly within DS Core, further simplifying workflows and making them accessible from virtually anywhere.
  • CEREC Primemill Lite: This compact, affordable milling unit supports high-quality single-visit dentistry and integrates easily into dental practices. Its two-motor system enables fast and precise milling and grinding for key chairside indications using validated materials.
  • CEREC Cercon 4D multidimensional blocks: These zirconia blocks combine a flexural strength of over 1,100 MPa with a proprietary 3D-layering technology that replicates natural dentine and enamel, enabling highly aesthetic restorations with minimal wall thickness.
  • ProRoot Bio Sealer: Featuring a higher bioactive cement content compared with other bioceramic sealers, this product sets a new standard for bioceramic sealers, thereby promoting hydroxyapatite formation and a clinically proven rapid periapical healing response.
  • AH Plus Ribbon: This endodontic sealer offers improved paste consistency for easier mixing and better flowability, and provides improved adhesion to gutta-percha, supporting the overall success of root canal treatment. This promotes the integrity of the seal and reduces the risk of leakage.
  • New artificial intelligence-powered 3D radiographic diagnosis features on DS Core: These create a new level of flexibility for diagnostic workflows by enabling diagnosis of Dentsply Sirona radiographic data from any device, supporting patient consultations and reducing IT complexity through secure cloud storage.

The event also showcased upcoming solutions like CEREC Go, an affordable two-motor milling unit for crowns, inlays and onlays made of composites and hybrid ceramics. It supports fast grinding and integrates with DS Core for seamless design-to-manufacture workflows.

In line with Dentsply Sirona’s global sustainability strategy, “BEYOND: Taking action for a brighter world”, reducing DS World’s environmental impact was a key priority throughout the planning and execution of the event. Sustainable decisions included selecting the Green Globes-certified MGM Grand as the venue, collaborating with local and eco-conscious vendors, and utilising digital communications to minimise paper waste.

DS World will return to MGM Grand Las Vegas from 24 to 26 September 2026. The event will offer a comprehensive clinical education programme and opportunities for dental professionals to exchange insights with peers who share a commitment to advancing dentistry. More information about this event and the full calendar of upcoming DS World events can be found on the company website.
