The update introduces a new split denture feature designed to automate hybrid denture workflows. Dental professionals can design an implant-based suprastructure in DentalCAD and generate a precisely fitting underlying bar in PartialCAD within a guided workflow. The software automatically proposes split lines for all-on-X cases, while a manual mode allows further customisation.
Tillmann Steinbrecher, CEO of exocad, said: “I’m particularly delighted that PartialCAD provides a highly automated workflow for splitting denture design, saving manual design time thanks to automatic split line proposals, and material-aware minimum thickness handling.”
The split denture workflow combines voxel-based and parametric design with robust geometry handling to support consistent processing and reliable manufacturing of complex cases. Split parameters can be saved and reused, helping laboratories standardise processes while maintaining individual design preferences.
Additional enhancements in PartialCAD 3.3 Chemnitz include:
- Split denture bar top optimisation: Enables technicians to configure the bar’s top surface for improved denture fit and a level result.
- Enhanced post tool: A new subtraction mode allows material to be removed across multiple parts simultaneously, in addition to adding posts, reducing repetitive adjustments.
- Automatic gingiva thickness control: The software detects areas of insufficient gingival thickness and automatically adds material to support mechanical strength. Advanced visualisation tools provide additional control.
- Preference management: Users can save split denture settings for reuse across cases, supporting efficiency and consistency.
PartialCAD 3.3 Chemnitz is available worldwide and forms part of the Align Digital Platform, Align Technology’s integrated suite of proprietary technologies and services for orthodontists, general practitioners and laboratory partners. Additional information is available at exocad.com.
