In 1934, Kiyoshi Nakao first transitioned the GC Chemical Research Laboratory organisation into a corporate structure to support business transformation and ensure future growth. GC continued to develop into a global company under the leadership of its president at the time, Toshio Nakao. The company broke new ground with its famous Fuji brand of glass ionomer, launched in 1977, under the leadership of Makoto Nakao, who had been appointed executive director that year and was named president in 1983. On 1 October, Ayako Nakao became a member of GC Holding’s board of directors, continuing the Nakao family’s century-old entrepreneurial spirit.

Dr Falk’s appointment comes at a pivotal time, as GC is celebrating its 103^rd anniversary and looking ahead to the next century of innovation and growth. He has been a member of GC’s board of directors for two and a half years. His career spans 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry, and he has joined GC from Ferring Pharmaceuticals, where he was president.

Makoto Nakao, chairman of the board of GC Holding, expressed his confidence in Dr Falk’s leadership: “It is very fortunate for the GC Group and its shareholders that Dr Falk will take on the CEO responsibility. His professional experience and knowledge of GC business, combined with the trust of the Nakao family, place him in an ideal position to become CEO of the GC Group.”
