The Institute of Dental Glass Ceramics (IDGC) has launched an international online campus dedicated to advancing the art and science of glass-ceramic dentistry. Designed as a global e-learning and networking hub, the platform provides dental professionals worldwide with access to high-quality, PACE-approved continuing education, expert-led live and on-demand webinars, and practical clinical resources.

The institute’s first live webinar, titled “Contemporary Monolithic Ceramics and the Digital Dental Team: Advancing Lithium Disilicate Technology with the Human Touch,” will take place on 5 November at 6 p.m. (CET). Presented by prosthodontist and master dental ceramist Dr Ed McLaren, the session will explore the latest innovations in high-strength, aesthetic lithium disilicate ceramics—both machinable and pressable—and how digital and analogue techniques combine to produce natural-looking restorations.

Dr McLaren will introduce the Digital Dental Team concept, a collaborative workflow that integrates scanning, design, milling and 3D printing with traditional craftsmanship. Through clinical case discussions and live demonstrations, participants will learn to balance digital precision with the artistry of finishing techniques such as surface texturing, colour layering, glazing and polishing.

In addition to the live programme, the IDGC campus offers a growing library of on-demand learning content covering topics such as chairside workflows for same-day restorations, the use of pressable ceramics to enhance aesthetic outcomes and the clinical application of lithium disilicate materials in digital dentistry. These sessions provide insights into the latest advances in material science, CAD/CAM technology and efficient one-hour restorative procedures.
